Malaysian cuisine tops Expo 2025 Osaka gourmet survey

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s culinary offerings have taken centre stage at Expo 2025 Osaka, with dishes served at Pavilion Malaysia ranked No.1 in a special “Expo Gourmet” survey by Japan’s Yomiuri TV.

The survey polled season pass holders for the international expo—frequent visitors who regularly sample the event’s cuisine—making the recognition especially meaningful.

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, in a recent Facebook post, described the win as proof of Malaysia’s unique culinary appeal and renowned hospitality.

“Malaysia No.1 in Japan! We’ve always said Malaysian food is the most delicious, and visitors to Expo 2025 Osaka share this sentiment.

“This is proof of the uniqueness and excellence of Malaysia’s cuisine and hospitality in the eyes of the world. Congratulations to the entire team at Pavilion Malaysia in Expo 2025 Osaka for your hard work!” he said.
