Unregistered meds worth RM85,000 seized at KLIA

PETALING JAYA: Unregistered medication worth around RM85,000 has been seized following a baggage check at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) said the operation was conducted yesterday at Terminal One.

“The responding Customs Department office had identified four suspicious baggage during a scan. The bags belonged to a Bangladeshi national.

“A thorough inspection led to the discovery of around 30 different types of medication that were not registered with the Health Ministry. The supply was believed to have been brought in to be sold to fellow countrymen.

“The seized medication included controlled poisons, psychotropics, 1,000 tubs of anti-fungal cream, and 20,000 pills of gastric medication,” it said in a statement.
