KL Sentral-Kluang electric train service to start on Aug 30

KLUANG: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB)'s Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3) between Kuala Lumpur and Kluang will officially begin operations next week, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

"The ETS3 service involving the KL Sentral–Kluang–KL Sentral route will begin operations on Saturday (Aug 30).

"Tickets can be purchased starting from 8pm on Saturday (Aug 23) via the KTMB Mobile (KITS) app, ticket kiosks or KTMB’s official website," he said in a statement here.

Loke made the announcement after the launch of Laman Rel Mahkota, which was officiated by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

The Laman Rel Mahkota is an iconic 2.8km public park developed beneath the viaduct of the Gemas–Johor Baru Electrified Double Track project.

Earlier, His Majesty launched the ETS3 in Kuala Lumpur before personally taking the driver’s seat to test-drive the train’s southern route service from Kuala Lumpur to Kluang.

His Majesty arrived at Kluang Station at about 11.15am.
