Five women suffer minor injuries in crash on North-South Expressway

IPOH: Five women sustained minor injuries in a two-car crash at KM368.5 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), along the Slim River–Sungkai stretch heading north.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant operations director Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said the distress call was received at 12.02 pm on Saturday (Aug 23).

“The accident involved two cars, one carrying four women, including an 18-year-old who was trapped in the back seat, and another car driven by a woman.

All victims only suffered minor injuries,” he said in a statement.

He added that the operation commander conducted an initial assessment and applied the SAVER concept, instructing firefighters to use hydraulic rescue equipment to free the trapped victim.

The victim was then handed over to Health Ministry personnel for further treatment and the operation was brought under control at 12.30 pm and fully completed by 12.44 pm.
