SUBANG JAYA: A routine accident call led to a massive drug seizure after police uncovered syabu worth RM7mil inside a crashed car.
The incident occurred on Aug 13 at SS17 here when a vehicle is believed to have gone out of control.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police were alerted to the accident at about 11.30am by a call from the public.
"Responding officers found no driver or passengers in or near the car," he told a press conference here on Friday (Aug 22).
"Checks of the back seat found four sacks containing 78 plastic packages, while the boot held seven more sacks with 130 plastic packages.
"In total, we seized 11 sacks containing 208 packages of suspected syabu, weighing 220.16kg and valued at RM7mil."
Investigations also revealed that the car bore false registration plates, he added.
ACP Wan Azlan said they are now tracking down a 32-year-old man from Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, after an identity card was found in the vehicle.
"Investigations are ongoing to determine whether or not the accident involved other vehicles.
"We believe the suspect is still in the country, and we are also looking into his role and the source of the drugs," ACP Wan Azlan said.
He urged anyone with information, including dashcam footage, to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Saifullah Rosdi at 017-9065674, or the nearest police station.
