Police investigate student’s death in Subang Jaya as homicide


SUBANG JAYA: The discovery of the body of a female college student in her 20s in her family house in Subang Jaya has been classified as murder.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Mamat, in a statement on Sunday (Aug 17), said that the police were informed of the discovery at a home in USJ 2/1of the find about 11.55am on Aug 14.

"The victim's father had found the body in the living room on the second floor of the house.

"A post-mortem examination conducted by a pathologist at Serdang Hospital confirmed the cause of death as bleeding around the neck bone (hyoid bone).

“The injuries to the muscle and bone areas are deemed to have resulted from manual strangulation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 302 for murder," he said.

ACP Wan Azlan added that the victim lived with her sister and cousin, but was alone at home at the time of the incident, adding that the house belonged to the family and no loss of property was reported.

No arrests have been made.
