Sabah Information Department urges unity through Jalur Gemilang, state flag display

KOTA KINABALU: Flying the Jalur Gemilang and Sabah state flag is a powerful expression of unity and patriotism, especially in a culturally and racially diverse nation, says state Information Department director Jainisah Mohd Noor.

She said the practice reflects Malaysians’ shared commitment to live harmoniously and work towards a common vision of prosperity and well-being.

“Sabahans live peacefully amidst racial, religious and cultural diversity,” she said. “In these differences, we share the same spirit and vision – to live as one in prosperity and harmony. Every flag flown is a reminder of our pride in this blessed land.”

Jainisah was speaking when officiating the Malaysia Day and Sabah Day Jiwa Madani Carnival, held in conjunction with the Sahabat Maritim X Borneo Food Fest Santuni Felda event in Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu, on Friday (Aug 15).

She called on all Malaysians to continue safeguarding peace and unity, and urged the public to show their support by proudly displaying the national and state flags.

Jainisah, who also heads the state Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 convoy, said the series of programmes leading up to National Day, Malaysia Day and Sabah Day act as a bridge between the government and the people.

“These events bring agencies directly to the grassroots, allowing them to share information, run activities and strengthen ties with the community,” she said.

Twenty-one agencies and departments are involved, including the National Registration Department, Road Transport Department, Sabah Electricity, mobile library services, Territorial Army and several financial institutions.

Also present were state Maritime director First Admiral (Maritime) Mohd Khairulanuar Abd Majid @ Razali and Tungku Community Development leader Momen Anghai @ Anchai.
