Nurul Izzah urges swift, stern action over attack on Rafizi’s son

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR has called on the authorities to act immediately and conduct a transparent investigation into the attack on the son of former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli.

Party deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar urged that the perpetrator be brought to justice without compromise or exception.

“If we fail to take firm action today to prevent such threats and intimidation, our nation will lose all hope.

"Such acts must be addressed decisively and comprehensively by the authorities so they do not destroy our country,” she said in a statement.

Nurul Izzah stressed that no one should ever be targeted or victimised in political games of any kind.

“In this matter, we must put aside all differences and unanimously condemn this act that has crossed the line," she said.

She added that politics may be a battlefield of ideas and opinions, but the safety of children and families should never be used as leverage or bargaining chips.

“As a human being and a mother, I understand the anxiety and distress Rafizi and his family are facing.

"I am deeply affected as, in recent weeks, I have been focusing on efforts to protect schoolchildren from threats and cyberbullying.

“I express my deepest sympathy to Ben, Fisha, and Raf, and pray that Allah grants them healing, strength, and protection as a family, " she added.

Rafizi’s family was the target of a planned attack after his 12-year-old son was jabbed with a syringe by an unidentified assailant at a shopping mall car park in Putrajaya on Wednesday afternoon.
