Police form task force to take over Zara Qairina probe

KUALA LUMPUR: A task force has been formed under the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the investigation into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.

Inspector-General of Police Secretariat (corporate communications) said the task force consisting of nine officers and personnel has been deployed to Sabah.

"The task force is part of the police's commitment to ensure the investigation is being conducted transparently and thoroughly. We take every case involving the loss of lives seriously," the secretariat said in a statement on Monday (Aug 11).

The secretariat urged all parties to give space for authorities to conduct the investigation professionally and avoid any speculation that could jeopardise the investigation.
