Duo hurt as tree falls on car in Putatan

KOTA KINABALU: Two people sustained minor injuries when a tree fell on their car along the Ulu Putatan road near here.

The man and woman, both in their 40s, were travelling from Jalan Ramayah in Penampang to Jalan Ulu Putatan in the 8.20am incident on Monday (Aug 11).

Putatan fire station chief Noor Sherriyanna Bohari said they received a distress call at 8.22am, and arrived at the scene four minutes later.

“A team of responders led by operations commander Marvin Domingo was dispatched to the scene,” she said in a statement.

Civil Defence officials who were also at the scene administered first aid before sending the victims to hospital for further treatment.

Firemen used chainsaws to cut up the fallen tree and moved the pieces to the roadside to clear the way for traffic.

Noor Sherriyanna said operations on site ended at 9.04am after all hazardous elements were cleared.
