Five more held over Teluk Intan football brawl

IPOH: Police have arrested five wanted suspects to complete investigations into a brawl during a football match at Padang Speedy, Teluk Intan, on Thursday (Aug 7).

Hilir Perak police chief ACP Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said all the suspects nabbed on Sunday evening were aged between 20 and 30.

"Remand will be made on Monday morning," he said in a brief statement on Sunday.

Earlier, police were tracking down five suspects to complete the investigation into the brawl, with seven suspects aged between 21 and 32 who were remanded for three days starting Aug 8 to assist in the investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code being granted police bail on Sunday.

On Aug 8, media reported that police had arrested seven men for a rioting incident during the football match. All seven were later released on police bail.

Bakri said the arrests were made after receiving a tip-off from a man who said there was a fight involving two local football teams playing in the Hilir Perak Integrity League 2025. - Bernama
