AGC orders immediate exhumation, post-mortem of Zara Qairina

PETALING JAYA: The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) has instructed the immediate exhumation and post-mortem of deceased Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir by the police.

This comes after it concluded its analysis of the full preliminary report provided by the PDRM.

The AGC said it had returned the report to the police with further instructions to exhume Zara’s body to begin post-mortem inspection.

“The AGC has deemed it necessary for the police to launch an immediate investigation to ensure all aspects can be carried out thoroughly,” it said in a press statement on Friday (Aug 8).

Zara Qairina had been pronounced dead at a hospital in Sabah on July 17, a day after she reportedly fell from the third floor of her school dormitory.

Her tragic death went viral and sparked mass reactions on social media, which included widespread allegations of bullying.
