PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group Berhad, which publishes The Star print products and online portal, refers to a scam site misusing The Star's brand identity.

It has come to the group’s attention that a fraudulent site is impersonating The Star with a knock-off article.

A fake article headlined “SPECIAL REPORT: Tony Fernandes launches the new platform Drablehub. His goal: to help Malaysian families become richer" was sighted recently.

The phoney write-up claimed that Capital A chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes had invested billions in Bitcoin to launch the project, among other mistruths.

The Star is not associated with the doctored site, nor the sham report, in any way or form.

It is believed that the perpetrators are running clickbait ads on social media to lure people into accessing the lookalike site and scam article.

If you come across such suspicious ads impersonating The Star or any other brands, please report the post to the platform you viewed it on.

This will alert moderators to fraudsters who violate community guidelines by impersonating The Star’s online presence on the social media platforms, and help ensure a safer online environment for all.
