Cops nab foreign duo over assault of delivery rider


AMPANG: Two foreign men were detained for allegedly assaulting a delivery rider at Jalan Ampang Avenue here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the 31-year-old male victim had delivered a parcel, which required payment on delivery.

"When he approached one of the suspects, a misunderstanding occurred whereby the suspect thought the victim had insulted him," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 30).

One of the suspects got into a scuffle with the victim while the other put him in a headlock, he said.

"One of the suspects then hit the victim using wooden sticks," he added.

ACP Mohd Azam said police detained the two suspects, aged 27 and 35 years old, at about 1.40pm on Monday (July 28).

"We also seized a 65cm-long stick. Both suspects have been remanded until Friday (Aug 1)," he said adding that, the incident occurred as one of the suspects thought the victim had insulted him over the phone prior to sending the parcel.
