Protesters gather at Dataran Merdeka despite rain

KUALA LUMPUR: The rain is no deterrent for protesters at Dataran Merdeka, as prominent figures began delivering their speeches at the Turun Anwar rally amidst the drizzle.

Speeches began at 2.30pm, with the emcee and Pasir Mas MP, as well as PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, stating that the weather would not deter the protesters.

Lawyer Haniff Khatri Abdulla, Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali, former Umno information chief Isham Jalil and former minister Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim were among the early speakers.

Former prime ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin are expected to deliver speeches later.

Other prominent figures expected to deliver speeches from 3pm onwards include PAS chief Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, Wanita Perikatan Nasional chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Gerakan President Datuk Dominic Lau and Pejuang President Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
