IPOH: A deeply distressing video has emerged, showing workers in uniform burying several dead dogs at a pound in Lahat, shared by the Ipoh branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA).
ISPCA president Ricky Soong revealed that a man dropped off a pendrive containing the footage at his office today (July 21) around 6.30pm.
The footage, believed to have been taken on the same day, has triggered grief, anger, and demands for accountability from animal lovers and NGOs.
In one segment of the footage, many dogs are seen alive in cages, while another shows mass graves where presumably dead dogs are thrown.
Soong claimed that when NGOs inquired about the fate of strays, authorities stated that the dogs were left at the Papan landfill nearby.
"However, when several NGOs and volunteers went to bail the dogs, they could not do so.
"When some of the NGOs and volunteers saw the videos, they spotted the dogs they wanted to bail," Soong said, describing the scenes as "heartbreaking" and "inhumane."
Efforts are underway to obtain comments from the Ipoh City Council and the state executive councillor in charge.
