Local youth arrested for motorcycle parts theft


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested a local youth for allegedly stealing motorcycle components at a parking area within the Gelang Patah bus terminal here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan confirmed that the police have received a report about the thefts following a viral video.

“Following an investigation, police have arrested a 27-year-old man in Gelang Patah at approximately 11.45pm on Tuesday (July 15). We believe the theft took place on Monday (July 14).

“Checks on the suspect found he has no prior criminal record. He also tested negative for drugs. However, during his arrest, police were able to make several seizures,” he said here on Wednesday (July 16).

Comm Kumarasan added that among the seized items were four motorcycle rims and two spanners.

He said the suspect was currently under remand until this Saturday (July 19) to assist with the investigation under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code.

Comm Kumarasan added police remained committed to curbing criminal activities within Iskandar Puteri and urged the community to channel valuable information to them.
