Elderly motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash in Batu Pahat

BATU PAHAT: A 70-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a five-vehicle crash at KM122 of the Johor Baru–Melaka road in Tanjung Laboh here.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident occurred at about 6.20pm on Thursday (July 10) when the victim attempted to make a left turn into the main road towards Batu Pahat town.

"He collided with a Proton Saga driven by a 35-year-old man, which was heading straight from the town centre towards Tanjung Laboh.

"The impact caused the car to hit a Perodua Axia, which then veered into the opposite lane and crashed into a Perodua Kancil and a Perodua Viva," he said in a press statement on Friday (July 11).

The elderly rider sustained severe injuries to the head and limbs as well as internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
