Perkeso looking into plight of girl who lost entire family, says Sim

NIBONG TEBAL: The Human Resources Ministry will look into how the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) can help a 12-year-old girl who lost her entire family after they drowned in Sungai Korok, Kedah.

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim said he would ask Perkeso to look into helping Putri Qisya Nur Izzat, who lost her parents and four siblings after their vehicle veered off the road and into the river.

"Maybe the couple had Perkeso accounts or are contributors themselves.

“We will see how we can help their only child through it,” he told the press when met at the MyFutureJobs Career and Entrepreneurship Carnival held at a hall in the Seberang Perai prison complex here on Thursday (July 10).

The press asked Sim if anything could be done for her through the organisation.

Putri Qisya is the sole survivor of her immediate family, having stayed behind at her grandmother's home in Jerlun, while her parents and younger siblings travelled without her on the day of the incident.

The victims were Putri Qisya's parents (husband and wife), Mohamad Azim Izat Ishak, 32, and Nurul Hidayah Khadijah Razman Efendi, 31, along with their children Putra Rayyan Nur Izzat, nine, Hawa Adriana Nur Izzat, eight, Annayla Humaira Nur Izzat, seven, and Tuah Haydar, six months.

It was reported that a family of six, who had gone missing since Saturday, were found on Monday inside a sedan that had plunged into Sungai Korok here.

The Welfare Services Department is currently evaluating the most suitable guardian for Putri Qisya.
