Over 20 foreign workers injured as bus overturns in Kulai


KULAI: A 22 foreign workers were injured after their factory bus swerved into a ditch and turned turtle here.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the accident, which took place on Jalan Perindustrian Senai 4 in Senai here, was reported at 7.17am on Thursday (July 10).

"The 38-year-old factory bus driver apparently lost control of the vehicle while turning out of an intersection.

"The bus swerved into a ditch on the right of the road and turned turtle, leaving the 22 passengers injured," he said in a statement.

He added that the victims, aged 25 to 30, were sent to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim here for medical attention.

"The bus driver was also tested for drugs, which turned out negative," he said, adding that the case is investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act.

Earlier, a video clip of the incident made rounds on social media, showing factory workers climbing out of the overturned vehicle.
