Cops nab mentally unsound man for allegedly murdering his sister in Tamparuli

KOTA KINABALU: A teacher is believed to have been murdered by her mentally unstable elder brother in Kg Tenghilan, Tamparuli, some 35km from here.

The 41-year-old teacher was found lying in a pool of blood with slash wounds on her neck and head, as well as severe injuries to her eyes.

Tuaran OCPD Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin said the suspect, her 47-year-old brother, was mentally unstable and was previously treated at a mental facility.

He said that when police received a report of the incident on Friday (July 4), they found the victim’s remains behind her house, and the suspect was nabbed at the scene not long after that.

“There were slash wounds on her neck and head, and injuries on both her eyes, believed to have been caused by a sharp object,” he said.

“We have taken the suspect to the police station to facilitate probes into this case,” Supt Noraidin said, adding the motive of the incident is still being ascertained.

A post-mortem was conducted on the victim on Sunday, he added.

He urged the public to refrain from making speculations and spreading unverified information so as not to disrupt investigations.

“Please call the Tuaran police hotline at 088-794313 or go to any police station near you if you have any credible information to share that can help this murder probe,” Supt Noraidin said.
