Social harmony key to achieving Maqasid Syariah

KUANTAN: Peace and harmony within society are essential prerequisites for achieving the objectives of Maqasid Syariah and safeguarding national stability, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar (pic).

He said murabbi ummah or community guides must play an important role in ensuring the five core principles of Maqasid Syariah – the preservation of religion, life, intellect, lineage and property – can be fully achieved.

“We do not want society to continue being haunted by the agendas of irresponsible parties who spread slander, incite discord and, worse still, go to the extent of accusing fellow Muslims of disbelief.

“All hatred must be overcome with the values of compassion and mercy. Let us work together to build a nation grounded in Islamic values and noble civilisation,” he told Bernama at the East Zone Jelajah Madani Ulama and Umara Programme held in conjunction with the Madani Al-Falah Carnival at Masjid Jamek Beserah yesterday.

Mohd Na’im also called on murabbi ummah to continue working hand in hand with national leaders to educate and nurture a society that upholds the values of respect and compassion for all citizens in the country.

At the event, Mohd Na’im handed over Tokoh Imam Mithali, Tokoh Guru Takmir Mithali and Tokoh Guru Kafa Mithali awards to nine recipients from Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu.
