Selangor-based syndicates abusing diesel fleet cards

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has revealed that diesel fraud syndicates in the state are using the fleet card system to carry out their criminal activities.

Its director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey said the ministry is actively conducting intelligence and investigations in collaboration with the police, and is confident that the syndicates involved can be busted in the near future.

“We know that syndicates like this are creative and have started abusing the rationalisation of subsidies using fleet cards that do not belong to them.

“I am confident that after this, we (the ministry) will have many more cases under the Control of Supplies Act (CSA) 1961, including the fleet card syndicates,” he told Bernama at a press conference after witnessing the disposal of the ministry’s major Selangor exhibits here yesterday.

Mohd Zuhairi said the ministry is also collaborating with oil-producing companies in the country by implementing internal controls to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of operations to combat the syndicates.
