Video clip case: Fight to clear your name in court like I did, says Zahid

KOTA KINABALU: Those implicated in the Sabah mining scandal are urged to clear their names by presenting witnesses and evidence to counter the prosecution's case, if they have them, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he too had presented his case and cleared his name in court.

“So if someone has the witnesses and evidence to (counter) the prosecution’s witnesses and evidence, then clear your names like I did,” he told a press conference after closing a Mara women's empowerment programme here on Tuesday (June 24).

Ahmad Zahid also said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should be given the trust to investigate these cases.

So far, the graft buster has said it expects to charge two assemblymen and a third individual in court soon.

The case involves alleged bribery involving elected representatives in the issuing of mineral prospecting licences and came to light last year after the release of the so-called "whistleblower videos" by a businessman.
