Five suspects released as Brickfields shooting investigation continues

PETALING JAYA: Five suspects were caught and subsequently released as the probe into a fatal shooting at a restaurant in Brickfields continues.

The arrests were made on June 16 in Kuala Lumpur, according to Sinar Harian.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said that the suspects were released on bail after their statements were recorded.

"For the Cheras shooting, there have been no arrests and investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects involved," he said.

A total of 18 people have had their statements recorded over the Brickfields shooting, with 20 for the case in Cheras.

Previously, DCP Mohamed Usuf said that preliminary investigations showed the cases had links to gangs.

On June 13, a man was shot dead at the restaurant, with two others suffering injuries after one of the two suspects approached the victim.
