Woman allegedly beaten by employer in Masai had other health issues, say cops


JOHOR BAHRU: A woman who was claims she was beaten by her employer in Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang here showed signs of minor injuries but had other health issues not related to the incident, say police.

Seri Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said a medical report from the hospital stated that the 34-year-old woman only suffered scratches and bruises as a result of the incident.

"This woman had an illness and required surgery, but this is not related to or caused during the incident," he said at the Johor police headquarters here on Wednesday (June 17).

"We have taken this matter to the medical officer and they confirmed that it was a minor injury. So far, the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code," he said.

He was asked about claims on social media that the woman required surgery due to injuries sustained in the incident.

He said his party had completed the investigation paper and had submitted it to the deputy public prosecutor. – Bernama
