'I want to clear my name', says Naim Daniel after closed door proceedings


PUTRAJAYA: Singer and actor Naim Daniel vows to clear his name in court from a sexual assault charge.

On Tuesday (June 17), the 28-year-old claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to a charge of sexually assaulting a minor.

Naim, or his full name Muhammad Na'im Daniel Baharin, remained calm while addressing the press who waited for hours for him to appear from the closed-door proceedings.

"I have just been charged with a serious allegation.

"I know there are a lot of questions and that this is shocking but I do not wish to comment further," he said outside of the courtroom here on Tuesday.

The "Projek: High Council" actor said he did not want any interference in the case and that he was leaving it to the justice system.

Naim was accompanied by his mother when he arrived at the courthouse at 8.34am on Tuesday.

He was represented by lawyers Mohd Irwan Sumadi and Amirul Ridzuan Hanif.
