Meet actor Naim Daniel, an established actor and aspiring musician with his group MUAH!, and they are hoping to strike it right in Asean

NAIM DANIEL is what you call a super talented Malaysian artiste who just wants to entertain his fans in our country and soon in South-East Asia.

And this well established local actor, who is also a songwriter and music composer, aims to make it big in regional music with his newly-formed group MUAH!.

Seen recently in the hit Astro drama I.D., the main vocalist of MUAH! needs no introduction — Naim is also a celebrated name in the local music scene, having won the prestigious Anugerah Juara Lagu title a few years ago.

With a career that began in childhood as an actor, Naim has since evolved into a renowned singer-songwriter.

Now, he aims to shine with his own band, MUAH!, a pop-rock group based in Kuala Lumpur. MUAH! features Naim Daniel as both the lead vocalist and guitarist, alongside Zenith on guitar, Tasneem on bass, Mairil on drums, and Ayai on keyboards.

"We gave a lot of effort for this song and we are hoping that it will be a big hit in Malaysia now. It will be great for the group to aim higher. I always feel the sky is the limit," said Naim during the press conference in KL on Monday (Oct 7).

"We hope to perform in places Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore. That is the way to go. And I do Hope Sony will give the group a big push'"

Under the banner of Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia, the band is ready to make waves with their debut single, “BBF”.

Kenny Ong, Sony Music Entertainment (SME)'s managing director for Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and special projects South-East Asia, said his team will do their best to push the group forward.

"We have many plans and will do our best to guide them for the future. It will be definitely good to see this group have following in South-East Asia," said Kenny.

As for the group's single, “BBF” delves into the complexities of relationships, telling the story of a man caught in a love triangle, as his partner entertains another male friend vying for her affection.

The lyrics are written in a straightforward, conversational style, making it easy for listeners to relate to and understand the song’s themes.

“The language we used in “BBF” is very colloquial, so listeners can instantly connect with the song and feel like it reflects their own experiences,” explained the band.

The recording process for “BBF” was smooth, thanks to the guidance of their producer, who understood the band’s creative direction from the start.

“We exchanged ideas throughout the process to ensure the final product was the best it could be. We practised many times in the studio, refining the track from the first demo to the final version. Once everyone knew their parts, we were ready to record.”

However, the band faced some unexpected challenges along the way.

“Our biggest obstacle was that our producer had an ear injury after a recent flight. It made it difficult for him to hear properly during the recording process, but we all pulled together to get the job done,” they shared.

When asked about their hopes for the track, MUAH! expressed optimism. “We hope 'BBF' will be well-received by listeners and make a mark not just locally, but internationally as well.

Set for release on September 20, 2024, “BBF” will be available for download on iTunes and streaming across digital platforms, including Apple Music, Deezer, KKBox, Spotify, YouTube, and YouTube Music.
