Actor-singer to be charged with sexual assault next week, Selangor cops say


KUALA LUMPUR: An actor-singer previously detained for alleged sexual assault of an underaged teen will be charged next week, Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan says.

The Selangor police chief said the Selangor Prosecution office on Friday (June 13) has instructed for the suspect to be charged at the Petaling Jaya court on Tuesday (June 17).

"He will be charged under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children 2017 for performing unnatural sex acts against the victim.

"We are committed to ensuring that justice is served and the investigation is conducted thoroughly to protect the victim and maintain transparency in the legal process," he said in a statement.

Previously, an actor-singer was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting an underage teen.

The incident allegedly occured in a hotel here with the suspect arrested on June 3.

The victim, aged 17, was believed to have known the actor from her workplace.

They then met several times before he brought her to the hotel.

The suspect has been released on police bail following the arrest.
