188 illegals nabbed during raid at Pudu nightclub

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 188 undocumented immigrants were detained following a raid at a nightclub in Pudu.

The operation, which was conducted at about 2am on Wednesday (June 11), saw 310 individuals inspected by the Immigration Department.

"We detained 185 Indonesians - 106 men and 79 women - along with two Cambodians and two Nepalese aged between 21 and 35 for various offences.

"Among the offences were overstaying and not possessing valid documents," the Immigration said in a statement on Thursday (June 12).

Those detained were brought to the KLIA Immigration Depot.

"Eight summonses were issued on witnesses including the club's supervisor and female deejay," the department said.

The club provided the services of female deejays who played the "dugem" music to cater to foreigners, especially Indonesians.

"They start operations from 11pm till 5am.

"We will continuously conduct such operations in the future," it said.

The operation consisted of 129 officers following two weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
