Body of missing girl found in Song


SIBU: The body of a 12-year-old girl feared drowned in Song has been found.

The State Fire and Rescue Department said on Wednesday (June 4) that the body of Puteri Nazarul Akmal was discovered at about 10am, 1.5km from her longhouse, Rumah Robert Nanga Bajor.

The body has been referred to the police for further action.

The victim was swimming in the river with three friends at about 8am on Monday (June 2) when she was swept away by a strong current.

Firefighters, along with longhouse residents, launched a search and rescue operation for the girl.
