Woman, family get threatened via TikTok livestream

SUBANG JAYA: A woman and her family were allegedly threatened following a defamatory livestream on TikTok.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the incident took place on Saturday (May 31), when the victim came across the livestream on TikTok.

“The video, uploaded by an individual known to them, contained unverified claims and specifically targeted the victim’s brother and sister,” he said in a statement on Monday.

“During the livestream, the suspect displayed photos of the siblings while making the accusations. After the livestream ended, the victim received a call from an unknown number threatening physical harm against her and her family.”

He added that the woman behind the video had previously contacted the victim’s sister, demanding repayment of a supposed RM10,000 loan, which the sister denies ever borrowing.

Police have since identified two female suspects, both in their 40s.

“We are actively tracking them down, and arrests are expected soon,” said Wan Azlan.
