JOHOR BARU: Police are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the body of a young child discovered floating in Sungai Skudai here on Sunday (May 25) morning.

Johor Baru North police OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said a 70-year-old local man lodged a report at 9.41am on May 25 after coming across the body.

“Preliminary investigations suggest the body is that of a girl estimated to be between five and seven years old.

“Her identity has yet to be confirmed,” he said here on Wednesday (May 28).

ACP Balveer added that the child was wearing an ankle bracelet on her left leg, which had a "heart" logo and the letters "IV" inscribed on it.

“At this stage, investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of death,” he said.
