Pandan Wanita PKR urges clarification on Rafizi Ramli corruption probe

PETALING JAYA: The status of investigations into corruption allegations involving Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) must be clarified to the public, says Roasiah Ramli.

The Pandan PKR Wanita chief said the allegation, which involves a reported RM500,000 payment linked to a vending machine project under Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR), needs to be taken seriously and requires immediate explanation from the authorities.

“The main question that remains unanswered is the status of the investigation by PDRM and MACC.

“The public has the right to know the progress of this case transparently,” she said in a statement on Tuesday (April 21).

Rafizi, the former economy minister, had previously denied any involvement in the case, describing previous claims as baseless and inconsistent with the timeline of events, adding that he had no connection to the alleged individual connected to the case.

Roasiah also further urged Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to clarify reports suggesting that statements had been made linking Rafizi to the allegation.

“If such information truly exists, it should not be left without an official explanation. Transparency is crucial to ensure public confidence is not affected,” she said.

She also raised concerns about Rafizi’s asset declaration issues and emphasised that accountability should apply equally to all individuals.

Roasiah added that Rafizi should remain focused on his responsibilities as an elected representative and continue prioritising the welfare of his constituents regardless of the case.

“The people’s mandate is a trust that must be carried out with full responsibility. Trust cannot be maintained without transparency and accountability,” she added.
