Rafizi's potential departure would be a big loss, says Saifuddin

JOHOR BARU: Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail choked back tears as he paid tribute to Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and expressed concerns over possibly losing him from the party’s leadership.

Speaking at the national congress here, Saifuddin said that while others celebrated their wins in the party polls on Friday (May 23) night, he had chosen to remain by Rafizi’s side.

“I have to admit, I am afraid of losing him from the party,” he said as he recalled how the former PKR deputy president was his speech writer back in 2008.

He said that while he may not always agree with Rafizi, he realised that Rafizi is a talent that is not easy to get.

Saifuddin also told PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that he has the duty to find a way to reconcile with those dissatisfied with the party's election results.

“Last night, you apologised for abandoning your duty as the president, as you are too focused on your premiership to bring the country forward.

“You said that starting from June, you will spend one day every week at the party.

“Datuk Seri, allow me to be your harshest critic if you do not do what you say.

“If you failed to stick to your words, I will be the first to call you out. I have nothing to lose. I am already 62 years old and have lost more elections than I won,” he said.
