SUV driver killed on the spot after colliding with lorry in Johor


SEGAMAT: A 37-year-old man was killed after his sport utility vehicle (SUV) was involved in an accident with a lorry on Jalan Muar-Jementah, Batu 16, near here.

Segamat Fire station chief Muhammad Hazim Abd Razak said the incident took place at 5.52pm on Thursday (May 22).

He said six firemen and a light fire rapid tender vehicle from the station were deployed to the scene about 24km away after receiving an emergency call on the case.

“We used special equipment to release the body of the SUV driver who was killed on the spot,’’ Muhammad Hazim said in a statement.

He said the SUV passenger, a 36-year-old woman, was also injured and the 46-year-old lorry driver escaped unhurt.

Muhammad Hazzim said the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action while the woman was sent to the nearby hospital.

The operation lead by senior officer I Kup Zuraimi Haron ended at 6.55pm.
