Disabled teen, mum rescued after flood hits Teluk Intan home


IPOH: A disabled teenage boy was rescued after floods struck his home at Kg Melayu in Langkap, Teluk Intan.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a distress call was received at 9.36pm on Monday (May 19).

"The flood involved four houses with water levels rising to about 10cm.

"During monitoring operations, one family requested assistance as water had entered their home, " he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 20).

"The teenager and his mother were relocated to Dewan Arena Kampung Attaduri in Langkap, accompanied by the village chief. The duo was transported using an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle,” he added.

He added that firefighters continued to monitor the area and found that water levels were gradually receding.
