Man nabbed for vandalising temple in Ampang


KUALA LUMPUR: A man on drugs was arrested for vandalising a prayer area at a temple in Ampang.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said that the temple's secretary had seen the man entering the temple in Taman Sri Ampang at 8.29am on Monday (May 19).

He said that the suspect came into the temple with weapons and destroyed a praying area.

"The suspect also brandished a weapon towards him (the temple's secretary) and threatened to cut his head off," he said in a statement on Monday.

Police arrived at the scene at 8.38am after a distress call from the secretary.

"The 33-year-old suspect was arrested. The unemployed man tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

"He will be remanded tomorrow at the Ampang Jaya magistrate court," he said.
