FRU crash: Wife makes emotional plea for husband's recovery


IPOH: The wife of Kpl Haslizal Mohd Ali, one of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel injured in the crash that claimed the lives of nine of his colleagues in Teluk Intan on Tuesday (May 13), has made an emotional plea to the public to pray for his recovery.

Teacher Siti Rafidah Kamis, 43, said her husband sustained injuries to his ribs and experienced lung complications and is still unconscious in Hospital Teluk Intan's intensive care unit.

"My husband had to be sedated. I’m in agony (over the situation), but I was told it’s the best option for now to prevent him from feeling pain.

"Please pray for my husband’s quick recovery. Our family misses him and we hope he will return to us soon,” the mother of three said when contacted on Thursday (May 15).

In the 8.50am fatal accident, the FRU lorry was involved in a collision with a heavy vehicle transporting gravel along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam.

In addition to Kpl Haslizal, Sjn Mazlan Mat, 50, and Kpl Mohd Izwan Ishak, 39, are also in critical condition and unconscious in the hospital ICU.

Kpl Mohammad Zulnaidi Muhammad Zullkifli, 34; L/Kpl Muhammad Aniq Taufiq Rozi, 26; Kpl Mohd Harrisul Ikhsan Mohd Mahabudin, 39; and Sjn  Mohd Parih Ali, 44, are receiving treatment at the same hospital.

Kpl Izwan's wife Nor Diyana Nor Mohamad, when contacted, said her husband was having severe internal bleeding, abdominal trauma, kidney injuries and multiple broken bones.

Nor Diyana, 39, said Kpl Izwan sustained fractures of his collarbone, ribs and lower spine but the extent of the damage has yet to be determined.

She said doctors had to insert a chest tube to drain blood from his lungs.

She said Kpl Izwan had taken part in a run at Pantai Remis on Sunday (May 11) and complained of dizziness shortly after returning home.

"He told me he felt like vomiting. I told him it might be from lack of sleep. Looking back, perhaps it was an early sign that something was wrong,” she said, adding that she remains hopeful that her husband will regain consciousness and recover. – Bernama
