Soldier, 32, arrested in Melaka for allegedly molesting 13-year-old girl

MELAKA: A 32-year-old soldier has been arrested here for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl he is suspected of having a secret relationship with.

Based on a police report sighted by The Star, the 33-year-old mother of the girl was at home in Alor Gajah here when she checked her daughter’s mobile phone.

She came across WhatsApp messages between the Form One student and the suspect, with the rank of sergeant, who works with her husband, a corporal, at the Terendak Camp here.

She then confronted her daughter, who admitted she had gone out several times with the suspect.

The girl also claimed the suspect once touched her thigh and body while they were in his car.

The mother then lodged a police report at the Kuala Sungai Baru police station on Tuesday (May 13) and took her daughter to Melaka Hospital for a medical examination.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for sexually assaulting a child.
