Selangor govt to discuss vape ban


KUALA SELANGOR: A proposal to ban the sale of vape products and e-cigarettes in Selangor will be tabled at the state legislative assembly meeting.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said he had directed the public health and environment executive councillor, Jamaliah Jamaluddin, to prepare a report prior to any decision being made on the issue.

“The state government should look into this matter comprehensively so it can guarantee the health of members of the future generation,” he said.

Currently, Johor and Tereng­ganu have prohibited the use of vape products, citing concerns about their alleged use by minors for drug consumption.

On another matter, Amirudin said the Selangor state government is ready to act as an intermediary in negotiations between victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline blast and insurance companies concerning claims for home and vehicle damage.

He added that the claims will involve terms stipulated in the respective insurance policies between residents and insurance companies.
