Technician charged with sodomising stepdaughter


KUALA LUMPUR: An air conditioning technician accused of sodomising his underaged stepdaughter has been denied bail by the Sessions Court here.

The 40-year-old man was charged with having unnatural sex with the girl, aged nine years and 10 months, on the balcony of an apartment in Cheras on April 8.

Bernama reported that the man was charged under Section 377c of the Penal Code, read together with Section 16 (1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides imprisonment of up to 30 years and whipping, if convicted.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence after the charge was read out here yesterday.

Judge Zulqarnain Hassan fixed June 17 for mention.
