Newborn baby boy found in Klang River


KUALA LUMPUR: Police confirm that the body of a newborn baby boy was discovered along the Klang River.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood stated that the body was found near a restaurant at Taman Puchong Utama.

"A witness at the scene reported that the body was seen stuck near a rock along the river near the restaurant. The witness then contacted the police via MERS 999," he said when contacted on Friday (May 9).

A team from the Fire and Rescue Department retrieved the body.

Investigations revealed that the male infant still had his umbilical cord attached.

ACP Ku Mashariman added that a post-mortem examination of the body was scheduled for Saturday (May 10)

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code, which pertains to concealing a birth and secretly disposing of it.
