KUALA LUMPUR: Authorities seized RM16.01mil worth of drugs and detained five men in three separate operations in the Klang Valley.
The Bukit Aman and Kuala Lumpur Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) conducted the operations from April 29 to Tuesday (May 6).
The syndicates stored drugs in vehicles, an empty shop at a shopping mall, and a luxury condominium.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the first operation was in Ampang on April 29.
"We stopped a vehicle and detained a 41-year-old man and a 31-year-old male Filipino.
"Some 58.42kg of syabu were found in the vehicle," he told reporters at KL police headquarters on Thursday (May 8).
Follow-up operations led police to another car in Taman Melati, where 146.76kg of syabu were seized, he said.
"Both suspects have been remanded until May 10," he added.
In the second operation, police raided an empty shop lot at a shopping mall on Jalan Imbi on May 5 and seized 221kg of syabu, Comm Rusdi said.
"We also detained a 45-year-old man during the 3.30pm operation. He tested positive for methamphetamine and has been remanded until May 11," he said.
In the third operation, two men aged 33 and 23 were detained following raids at a luxury condominium in Kiara East on May 6, Comm Rusdi said.
"We seized various drugs including 9kg of ecstasy powder, 4.19kg of ketamine, 3.28kg of ecstasy pills, and 1.25kg of erimin 5.
"We also seized RM320,250 cash and two vehicles. The suspects have been remanded until May 12," he said.
Comm Rusdi said the drugs seized from all three operations were worth RM16.01mil.
"It could have been supplied to 3.2 million drug addicts. We will investigate further to uncover the remnants of the syndicates.
