Partnership with AMD secures future of Malaysia's semiconductor industry

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says the country's strategic partnerships with global semiconductor mega companies such as Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD) will position and propel Malaysia towards a better future for the sector's ecosystem.

In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister said he had received a courtesy call from AMD officials led by its chief executive officer Lisa Su on Tuesday (May 6) morning.

He said in the meeting, both parties discussed AMD's direction in supporting the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS).

He said the company showed support for the policy, which focuses on the country's interests, especially in creating and securing supply chains from various countries.

"AMD is a global giant that is a leader in the high-performance and adaptive computing sector.

"Since its establishment in Malaysia in 1972, AMD has played a significant role in the development of the country's semiconductor sector," he said.
