Mother distraught after son killed in Seremban accident

PETALING JAYA: A mother was inconsolable after she saw the body of her son who was killed in an accident in Seremban.

In a viral video, the woman is seen crying at the location while her husband tries to console her.

The deceased victim, 20, who was riding a motorcycle, was hit by a van that allegedly ran a red light on Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1 here, Sinar Harian reported Seremban police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din as saying.

The incident occurred at 11.55pm on Saturday (May 3) and it is understood that the location is also where three others were killed after they were hit by a car – that also ran a red light – in March 2025.

In another viral video, people can be seen crowding around the van and questioning why the driver ignored the red light.

"The victim died at the scene due to severe injuries to the head after a van, driving from Senawang to Bahau, failed to stop at the traffic light and hit the victim," Mohamad Hatta said in a statement on Sunday.

Bernama reported that the victim's body was taken to Rembau Hospital for an autopsy.

Both the van driver and the passenger were unhurt.

ACP Mohamad Hatta said the driver was arrested under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He also urged those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Tiew Chuan Jie at 014-966 8399 or the nearest police station.

He added that the suspects, whose blood alcohol tests came back negative, were remanded for four days.

He also urged anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact the police.
