KOTA TINGGI: A 36-year-old motorcyclist died on the spot following a collision with a car at KM15 of Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi early Monday morning (Sept 28).
Kota Tinggi OCPD Superintendent Yusof Othman said police were alerted to the crash by a member of the public at 7.15am.
Preliminary investigations revealed that both vehicles were travelling in the same direction from Kota Tinggi toward Kulai.
"The accident occurred when the car was making a right turn at a junction, and the motorcycle, coming from behind, attempted to overtake it on the right side," Supt Yusof said in a statement.
He added that the motorcyclist was unable to brake in time and crashed into the right side of the car. The victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car driver, a 30-year-old woman, was uninjured but left shaken by the incident.
The victim’s body was transported to Kota Tinggi Hospital for an autopsy. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.
