BUTTERWORTH: Only 35 projects under the Works Ministry have been categorised as "sick", says its Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He said those projects considered problematic make up just 2.8% of the ministry's total nationwide.
"Just last week, I handed over a project that was completed a full year ahead of schedule," he said after witnessing the handing over ceremony of Hospital Seberang Jaya's new multi-storey block to the Health Ministry here on Friday (May 2).
He said that in cases where projects faced delays or issues, the ministry granted extensions if they were warranted on legitimate grounds.
Furthermore, the ministry has set up high-level committees to monitor project delays, he added.
"Our goal is to enhance our overall performance and delivery," he said.
The new nine-storey hospital block will begin operating in phases from Monday (May 5) and houses 316 beds, six operating theatres, and seven types of multidisciplinary wards, including an intensive care unit and high dependency unit.
