MACC: Integrity units mandatory for local councils

KUALA LUMPUR: All local authorities (PBTs) are required to establish an Integrity Unit (UI) by Aug 31 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen administrative integrity.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said under new measures to streamline the reporting structure, all liaison officers serving in PBTs must now report directly to the UI at the State Secretary’s Office, rather than to the local council president.
