KUALA LUMPUR: The police will investigate the error in the depiction of the Jalur Gemilang in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Examination Results Analysis Report distributed on Thursday (April 24) if a report is lodged.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa (pic) said the police will determine whether the error was intentional once they receive a police report.

"So far, we have not received any report," he told reporters during the KL police Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration on Thursday.

Comm Rusdi advised everyone to be more careful when using technology to prevent such errors in the future.

"Mistakes can happen sometimes when using technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

"That is why we must check and triple-check our work before submitting any finished project," he added.

The Education Ministry had earlier issued an apology for the error.

In a statement, it said such negligence is unacceptable as the Jalur Gemilang symbolises the nation's grandeur and sovereignty.

“Immediate and strict action has been taken against all involved, and a detailed investigation is underway. The printed analysis reports have been requested for return, and immediate corrections are being made,” it said.

The AI-generated photos have been removed from the soft copy of the report on the Examinations Board website.
